A380 from Toulouse to Tarbes via Singapore

A380 from Toulouse to Tarbes via Singapore

15 Nov 2017

Whilst the aviation world is speculating about a new A380 order from its biggest customer Emirates, the first ever A380 that was handed to a customer in 2007, has (perhaps) completed its last flight.

Singapore Airlines flew the “mothballed” A380 (9V-SKA) from the city state in Southeast Asia to southern France on 13 November. For the time being, the aircraft will stay parked at Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées airport, only 120 km from its production site in Toulouse.

The company Tarmac Aerosave operates a “boneyard” for 25 retired aircraft at Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées airport and an even bigger one for 225 units in Teruel (Spain).

The leasing enterprise, Dr. Peters, owner of four SIA A380s, is optimistic about finding a buyer for the used aircraft. If that is not the case, the pioneers will be dismantled in the next few months. (ah)  SOURCE: ITJ
