Arianespace has launched a Soyuz ST-B rocket carrying the SES-15 satellite into orbit on a rare commercial mission for Soyuz. Liftoff is set for 11:45 hrs UTC, May 18th 2017.

Comments:

pretty sad ArianeSpace has to use Russian built Soyuz for a medium lift carrier rocket. They have the light weight Vega and the heavy lift Ariane 5 but nothing in-between except buying Soyuz. If ArianeSpace was smart they would scrap the 5 & 6 which are both obsolete and design a reusable rocket. Spacex had proven that reusability is the future of space launch. Ariane can only stay in denial for so long until they eventually loose all their business to spacex.

--------

Why can't ArianeSpace show any actual live rocket cam footage? Every launch always shows the same per-recorded footage from an old flight. Ariane 5 SRB sep and fairing sep are always old footage. same with this Soyuz footage. If Spacex and ULA can stream live footage of onboard cams then why can't Ariane?

--------

Everybody wants to be like SpaceX.         Arianespace should've kept the AR-4 launcher.
