Bengal Moves Unit 2 Of Sirajganj 225 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant

Bengal has recently completed the transportation of heavy, odc and general cargoes for Sirajganj Unit 2 power plant project. Bengal had to design & build a suitable jetty along with modification of road from jetty to project site with a total distance of 3 Km from jetty.

Bengal had to do all the paper work along with custom clearance by its efficient team and they also mobilize their own barges along with its powerful tugboats to Mongla port to receive the heavy cargoes which consists of Gas Turbine Generator (226 ton), Gas Turbne (180 ton), Long Modules of 30 m in length ranges from 220 ton to 88 ton, 2 nos of transformers (110 ton & 159 ton), Stator of 159 ton, general cargoes like wooden boxes etc. For general cargoes Bengal deployed trailers and trucks to receive directly from port.

After arrival of the cargoes at jetty Bengal unloaded one by one by its mighty 600 ton floating crane onto HMT. A total of 60 members of Bengal crews were working day and sleepless night to carry out these massive & challenging project cargoes for Unit 2 at Sirajganj.

This project seemed to be a very challenging one for Bengal and its crew and there was an expected rise in the water level at Jamuna River because of the opening of dam by India. As a result the jetty became submerged and Bengal again had to re-modify the jetty within a very short span of time and had to offload the cargoes onto its waiting HMT. Not only that Bengal had to quickly deploy additional tugs and as a result each barge needs 4 tugs to tow from port to site. A total of 9 barges were used for this massive project to receive the cargoes.

During the final transportation of stator which came late due to the delay by the mother vessel and as a result the water level drastically lowered and the channel of the Jamuna Eco Park became very dry and low in water level. To cope up the challenge Bengal had to quickly mobilize 8 dredgers to cut the sand and make the channel again so that the barge carrying Stator reach at jetty site without any hindrance.

This is the second time Bengal is awarded for the project at Sirajganj as Unit 1 at Sirajganj was also moved by them. Bengal is pioneer in transportation, heavy lifting and construction of industrial plants in Bangladesh.
