GPLN member Unishipping moves beer brewery tanks from Greece to Bulgaria

9 Jan. 2018

GPLN member Unishipping of Bulgaria was awarded the transportation of brewery tanks from subcontractors to move six tanks from the Heineken brewery in Athens, Greece, to their Zagorka brewery in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.

The dimension of each tank was 12m x 5.7m x 5.9m (LxWxH) and the weight around 18.5 tons each. Unishipping's task was to organize all relocations, including loading at job site in Athens on trucks, moving the cargo via downtown to Piraeus port and loading onto sea-going vessel up to Burgas port in Bulgaria.

Upon arrival at Burgas port the tanks were discharged on trucks and delivered to Stara Zagora. For the permanent storage area the foundation had to be lightly moved and erected. All logistics involved took quite some time, but at the end of the day Unishipping succeeded in organizing the complete relocation from Athens to Stara Zagora in two weeks only, including all operational steps involved.
