Crane wire ropes
Making industrial operations faster and safer by using crane wire ropes with Dyneema®. By replacing traditional steel wire by lightweight yet super strong synthetic fiber the load capacities of the cranes can be increased. Another advantage is the simplified assembly and disassembly of the crane thanks to reduced weight of the rope with Dyneema®. Crane wire ropes made Dyneema® also shows excellent resistance to tension and bending fatigue, UV, and chemicals.
Heavy lift slings
Dyneema® fiber is seven times stronger than steel on a weight for weight basis, so slings and ropes made with Dyneema® can have exactly the same strength as a steel wire alternatives at the same diameter, but at a fraction of the weight.
Crews can handle them more quickly and safely, and this can be crucial when working in offshore conditions or when completing an operation before a weather window starts to close.
From suction piles to massive subsea templates, lines made with Dyneema® are the ideal choice to push boundaries in deploying and retrieving subsea installations. In ultra-deep subsea fields, by using ropes with Dyneema® instead of steel wire ropes, payloads can increase by 50%, thanks to the reduced rope weight and thus increased winch capacity.
Ropes with Dyneema® float in water, adding no weight to a payload at any depth. This is why they can be found in the deepest offshore installation projects in the world.
Advanced technologies DSM Dyneema continues to make significant progress in the technologies behind its principal fiber for lifting, towing and mooring applications, Dyneema® SK78.
Dyneema® Max Technology rewrites the rules regarding the capabilities of High Modulus Polyethylene (HMPE) ropes in long-term applications like deep water permanent moorings, mining operations or crane wire ropes. It enables the production of ropes that are not only light and strong, but almost completely resistant to creep
Dyneema® XBO Technology has been specially developed to deliver bending performance superior to that of any other synthetic fiber. It increases their durability, especially when they are fatigued by frequent bending. This typically occurs when ropes are employed in systems where they are continually running back and forward over sheaves.
Ropes incorporating Dyneema® XBO Technology have bending performance at least on a par with steel wire ropes, but need no maintenance (greasing for example) and exceed their resistance to corrosion, chemicals and salt water. Dyneema® XBO Technology is being applied to Dyneema® SK75 and DM20 fibers, as well as SK78.
